The goal of Service Learning is to become an extension of the hands and heart of God to the people in our community. We, at First Assembly Christian School, want to walk out the Word of God by putting it into practice. What greater example do we have than the example of Jesus himself who came to serve and not to be served. As an integral part of our curriculum, our hope is that each student will develop a heart to serve others. Younger elementary students participate in seasonal projects directed by their teachers. (Food Drives, Coat Drives, Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes, etc.) Older students are Reading Buddies to FACS students in Kindergarten, 1st grades and 2nd grades. Middle School students serve one hour a week in a local public school, serving the under-resourced students in our community with extra reading and math help. Middle school students also volunteer in First Assembly's Preschool and study biblical Servant Leadership throughout the year.
